Cooperative triangulation in MSBNs without revealing subnet structures

چکیده
Multiply sectioned Bayesian networks (MSBNs) provides a coherent framework for probabilistic inference in a cooperative multiagent distributed interpretation system. Inference in MSBNs can be performed e ectively using a compiled representation. The compilation involves the triangulation of the collective dependency structure (a graph) de ned in terms of the union of a set of local dependency structures (a set of graphs). Privacy of agents eliminates the option to assemble these graphs at a central location and to triangulate their union. Earlier work solved distributed triangulation in a restricted case. The method is conceptually complex and the correctness of its extension to the general case is di cult to justify. In this paper, we present a new method that is conceptually simpler and is e cient. We prove its correctness in the general case and demonstrate its performance experimentally.

Probabilistic reasoning in dynamic multiagent systems
Probabilistic reasoning with multiply sectioned Bayesian networks (MSBNs) has been successfully applied in static domains under the cooperative multiagent paradigm. Probabilistic reasoning in dynamic domains under the same paradigm involves several issues. This paper proposes an approach to address these issues. Intuitively, observation on current state plays a more important role in the reason...
متن کاملDistributed Equipment Monitoring and Diagnosis with Multiply Sectioned Bayesian Networks
Multiply sectioned Bayesian networks (MSBNs) are extension of Bayesian networks for flexible modeling and cooperative multiagent probabilistic inference. A large and complex equipment is modeled by a set of Bayesian subnets in a MSBN each of which corresponds to a natural component of the equipment. Each subnet forms the core knowledge of an autonomous M&D agent. Inference is performed in a dis...
متن کاملOptimization of Inter-Subnet Belief Updating in Multiply Sectioned Bayesian Networks
Recent developments show that Multiply Sectioned Bayesian Networks (MSBNs) can be used for diagnosis of natural systems as well as for model-based diagnosis of artificial systems. They can be applied to single-agent oriented reasoning systems as well as multiagent distributed reasoning systems. Belief propagation between a pair of subnets plays a central role in maintenance of global consistenc...
متن کاملDistributed Multi-Agent Probabilistic Reasoning With Bayesian Networks
Main stream approaches in distributed artificial intelligence (DAI) are essentially logic-based. Little has been reported to explore probabilistic approach in DAI. On the other hand, Bayesian networks have been applied to many AI tasks that require reasoning under uncertainty. However, as commonly applied, a single-agent paradigm is assumed in Bayesian networks. This paper extends multiply sect...
متن کاملBelief Updating in Msbns without Repeated Local Propagations
We redeene inference operations for multiply sectioned Bayesian networks (MS-BNs). When two adjacent subnets exchange belief, previous operations require repeated belief propagations within the receiving subnet. The new operations require such propagation only twice. We prove that the new operations do not compromise the coherence while improving the eeciency. A MSBN must be initialized before ...
